The Added Role of MR Imaging in Treatment Stratification of Patients with Gynecologic Malignancies: What the Radiologist Needs to Know

TLDR
The purpose of this review is to highlight the added role of MR imaging in the treatment stratification and overall care of patients with endometrial, cervical, or ovarian cancer.
Abstract
Advances in MR imaging techniques, along with the growing role of the radiologist as part of a multidisciplinary treatment-planning team, have become central in tailoring treatment options and frequently lead to modifications in the therapeutic approach in patients with gynecologic malignancies.

The Diagnostic accuracy of transvaginal ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion weighted image in female patients with endometrial carcinoma

TL;DR: Conventional MRI, diffusion weighted imaging and contrast enhanced MR images are superior to TVUS in patients with endometrial cancer and ADC values help to differentiate between normal and endometrian cancer which may replace MR contrast enhanced images.

FIGO et cancer de l’endomètre : le mystère du myomètre

TL;DR: L’interpretation peut etre difficile dans certains cas et une bonne communication entre chirurgien and radiologue est primordiale pour un apport optimal de l’IRM.

Combined dynamic contrast enhanced MRI parameter with clinical factors predict the survival of concurrent chemo-radiotherapy in patients with 2018 FIGO IIICr stage cervical cancer.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors combined clinical prognostic factors and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters on predicting the prognosis after concurrent chemo-radiotherapy (CCRT) in patients with 2018 International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) IIICr stage patients.

Role of MRI in Diagnosis of Endometrial Cancer

TL;DR: MR imaging with the aid of contrast enhanced images, diffusion weighted images and ADC mapping, had a great role in diagnosis of endometrial cancer as part of pre-operative assessment for lesion characterization and staging of the disease.

The role of imaging in pelvic exenteration for gynecological cancers.

TL;DR: Pelvic exenteration (PE) is one of the most challenging gynecologic oncologic surgeries and is an overriding term for different procedures that entail radical en bloc resection of the female reprod...

Cancer statistics, 2010

TL;DR: The American Cancer Society as mentioned in this paper estimated the number of new cancer cases and deaths expected in the United States in the current year and compiles the most recent data regarding cancer incidence, mortality, and survival based on incidence data from the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries and mortality data from National Center for Health Statistics.

Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging as a Cancer Biomarker: Consensus and Recommendations

TL;DR: DW-MRI should be tested as an imaging biomarker in the context of well-defined clinical trials, by adding DW-MRI to existing NCI-sponsored trials, particularly those with tissue sampling or survival indicators, and standards for measurement, analysis, and display are needed.
