Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging as a Cancer Biomarker: Consensus and Recommendations

TLDR
DW-MRI should be tested as an imaging biomarker in the context of well-defined clinical trials, by adding DW-MRI to existing NCI-sponsored trials, particularly those with tissue sampling or survival indicators, and standards for measurement, analysis, and display are needed.

PI-RADS Prostate Imaging - Reporting and Data System: 2015, Version 2

TL;DR: The Prostate Imaging - Reporting and Data System Version 2 (PI-RADS™ v2) simplifies and standardizes terminology and content of reports, and provides assessment categories that summarize levels of suspicion or risk of clinically significant prostate cancer that can be used to assist selection of patients for biopsies and management.
Journal ArticleDOI

Radiomics: the process and the challenges

TL;DR: "Radiomics" refers to the extraction and analysis of large amounts of advanced quantitative imaging features with high throughput from medical images obtained with computed tomography, positron emission tomography or magnetic resonance imaging, leading to a very large potential subject pool.

Imaging biomarker roadmap for cancer studies.

James P B O'Connor, +78 more
TL;DR: Experts assembled to review, debate and summarize the challenges of IB validation and qualification produced 14 key recommendations for accelerating the clinical translation of IBs, which highlight the role of parallel (rather than sequential) tracks of technical validation, biological/clinical validation and assessment of cost-effectiveness.

Diffusion-weighted MR imaging of the liver.

TL;DR: The current clinical uses of DW MR imaging (liver lesion detection and characterization, compared and combined with conventional sequences) and the emerging applications of DWMR imaging (tumor treatment response and diagnosis of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis) will be reviewed.

Relationship between Apparent Diffusion Coefficients at 3.0-T MR Imaging and Gleason Grade in Peripheral Zone Prostate Cancer

TL;DR: ADCs at 3.0 T showed an inverse relationship to Gleason grades in peripheral zone prostate cancer and a high discriminatory performance was achieved in the differentiation of low-, intermediate-, and high-grade cancer.

Spin diffusion measurements : spin echoes in the presence of a time-dependent field gradient

TL;DR: In this article, a derivation of the effect of a time-dependent magnetic field gradient on the spin-echo experiment, particularly in the presence of spin diffusion, is given.

Separation of diffusion and perfusion in intravoxel incoherent motion MR imaging.

TL;DR: Clinical results showed significant promise of the IVIM method for tissue characterization by perfusion patterns and for functional studies in the evaluation of the microcirculation in physiologic and pathologic conditions, as, for instance, in brain ischemia.

Diffusion Tensor MR Imaging ofthe Human Brain

TL;DR: A quantitative characterization of water diffusion in anisotropic, heterogeneously oriented tissues is clinically feasible and should improve the neuroradiologic assessment of a variety of gray and white matter disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diffusion tensor MR imaging of the human brain.

TL;DR: In this paper, the intrinsic properties of water diffusion in normal human brain were assessed by using quantitative parameters derived from the diffusion tensor, D, which are insensitive to patient orientation and showed that diffusion appeared cylindrically symmetric.

Fiber tracking: Principles and strategies - A technical review

TL;DR: The state of the art of reconstruction of the axonal tracts in the central nervous system (CNS) using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is reviewed, including both data acquisition and the elaborate fiber reconstruction algorithms.
