Recent field trials conducted in the Matlab Bazaar area of East Pakistan have indicated that there is a clear correlation between cholera vaccination and infection in any experimental animal.
Abstract
Research in cholera has been greatly hampered by the lack of a clearly correlated model of infection in any experimental animal. The value of various cholera vaccines must, at the moment, be assessed by expensive and prolonged clinical trials in those climatically difficult areas of the world where the disease is endemic. Recent field trials conducted in the Matlab Bazaar area of East Pakistan [1-7] have indicated that there is a clear correlation be-

The mouse vibriocidal antibody test: a method for monitoring the potency of cholera vaccines.

TL;DR: The mouse vibriocidal antibody test gave reproducible estimates of potency and was serotype specific, and was in agreement with those provided by the active mouse protection test, although both tests gave estimates with wide confidence intervals.

A mouse model for direct evaluation of cholera vaccines

TL;DR: The results presented in this thesis suggest that the new adult mouse model may be used to broaden the understanding of immune protection against V. cholerae infection, and thus be a useful tool in the pre-clinical evaluation of oral cholera vaccines.
