Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of supplementing napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) with poultry litter and sunflower meal based concentrates on feed intake and rumen fermentation in Friesian steers

TL;DR: Intake of nutrients and rumen fermentation values were determined in a 4 x 4 Latin square design using four rumen fistulated Friesian steers and optimal feed intake and digestion were obtained at 3.65 kg/day.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of dietary nitrogen source on microbial protein synthesis, dietary protein degradation and nutrient digestion in steers☆

TL;DR: Effects of dietary nitrogen source on microbial protein synthesis, dietary protein degradation and nutrient digestion were examined with mature Holstein steers fitted with a permanent rumen cannula and “T” type duodenal and ileal cannulae.
Dissertation

Bioavailability of Certain Trace Minerals from Feeds and Forages in Crossbred Male Calves.

TL;DR: In this paper, the extent of bioavailability of trace minerals from feeds and forages in crossbred male calves was evaluated in three staged in vitro study was conducted, which revealed that Fe and Zn were more strongly bound to cell wall fractions as compared to Co, Mn, and Cu and thus are likely to be less available to ruminants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inoculation of corn silage with Lactobacillus plantarum and Bacillus subtilis associated with amylolytic enzyme supply at feeding. 1. Feed intake, apparent digestibility, and microbial protein synthesis in wethers

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of corn silage inoculation and dietary supplementation with amylolytic enzymes, and their interactions, on feed intake, apparent digestibility, and microbial protein synthesis in wethers were investigated.
