Journal ArticleDOI

Requerimientos energéticos de ovinos de pelo en las regiones tropicales de Latinoamérica. Revisión

TL;DR: In this article, the energy requirements and efficiency of utilization of metabolizable energy (ME) may be different between hair and wool breeds of sheep, and it is reasonable to hypothesize that energy requirements of hair sheep may differ to the same extent as those of wool breeds.
Journal Article

Cereal crop residues as feed for goats and sheep. , 6 47-61.

TL;DR: The smaller size of goats and sheep compared to cattle and buffalo is an apparent disadvantage because maintenance-energy requirement relative to live weight, is higher for small compared to large ruminants, yet intake-capacity for roughage feeds is not as discussed by the authors.

A Comparison of Methodologies for Measuring Methane Emissions from Ruminants

TL;DR: In this article, a review compares measurement techniques for determining methane production at different scales, ranging from in vitro studies to individual animal or herd measurements, and concludes that feed intake is a key driver of enteric methane production and measurement of EMP in smallholder production systems face many challenges, including marked heterogeneity in systems and feed base, as well as strong seasonality in feed supply and quality in many areas of sub-Saharan Africa.
Journal ArticleDOI

A model of milk production in lactating dairy cows in relation to energy and nitrogen dynamics.

TL;DR: A generic daily time-step model of a dairy cow that includes growth, milk production, and lactation in relation to energy and nitrogen dynamics is described that is shown to be well suited for inclusion in large-scale system simulation models.
