Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of a Small Quantity of Cystine in the Presence of a Large Amount of Cysteine.

TL;DR: Cystine was determined, after being reduced with dithiothreitol, by the reaction with ninhydrin carried out under acidic conditions, making it possible to precisely determine the amount of cystine present with cysteine in a concentration ratio of 1:2,000.

Zinc Chemical Biology: The Pursuit of the Intracellular Targets of Zinquin

TL;DR: A consistent pattern is shown across seven cell and tissue types that Zinquin reacts in micromolar concentrations with Zn bound to proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sensitive polarographic estimation of thiol groups with N-ethylmaleimide.

TL;DR: Measurement of the polarographic reduction wave of NEM provides a means of estimating SH groups and the sensitivity of the method is 10–100 times greater than that of the spectrophotometric procedure.

Protein-based nanoparticles with thermoswitchable particle size

TL;DR: N nanoparticles that can be switched in particle size by a defined temperature stimulus are presented, and could find application as drug carriers, where a specific temperature stimulus may enable a controlled release of loaded molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bridging Group Effects on Nearest-Neighbor Recognition within Fluid Phospholipid Membranes†

TL;DR: While cholesterol was found to induce significant NNR in bilayers made from lipid dimers having the DTDP moiety, its effect in membranes having longer bridging units was negligible.
