Developing countries, especially those in Africa and southern Asia, incur the highest burden in terms of absolute numbers, although a high rate is also observed in North America.Abstract:

Review: Eicosanoids in preterm labor and delivery: Potential roles of exosomes in eicosanoid functions
TL;DR: This review will explore the potential roles of exosomes in eicosanoid functions that are critical in preterm labor and delivery and identify enzymes and products of arachidonic acid metabolism (eicOSanoids) within exosome.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the relationship between pregnancy complicated by preeclampsia and possibility of CVD in the offspring and discuss the mechanisms associated with CVD seem to be a combination of genetic, molecular, and environmental factors which can be defined as fetal and postnatal programming.

Trends in gestational age and birth weight in Chile, 1991–2008. A descriptive epidemiological study
TL;DR: The gestational age and birth weight of live born child have significantly changed over the past two decades in Chile, and the need to assess several factors that could contribute to explain these trends is shown, as the demographics changes, medical interventions and the increasing probability of survival of extremely and very preterm child are assessed.

TL;DR: These findings provide insights into the epigenetic landscape of neonates born preterm, and that its status is captured more comprehensively by interrogation of more than one neonatal tissue in tandem.

Antenatal corticosteroid treatment: factors other than lung maturation
TL;DR: Antenatal corticosteroid therapy improves both fetal lung mechanism and gas exchange due to accelerated morphologic development of type one and two pneumocytes and enhances the production of surfactant binding proteins and fetal lung antioxidant enzymes.

TL;DR: Over the past 20-30 years advances in perinatal care have improved outcomes for infants born after short gestations, but there is still uncertainty and incomplete recording of estimates of gestation in developed countries.
