Discovery of a Rare-Earth-Free Oxide-Ion Conductor Ca3Ga4O9 by Screening through Bond Valence-Based Energy Calculations, Synthesis, and Characterization of Structural and Transport Properties.

TL;DR: It was found that the structural and transport properties of Ca3Ga4O9 are similar to those of LaSrGa3O7 melilite, and the bond valence-based energy landscape calculated using the refined crystal parameters indicated 2D oxide-ion diffusion in the layered tetrahedral network.

A New Long Phosphorescent Phosphor with High Brightness, SrAl2 O 4 : Eu2 + , Dy3 +

TL;DR: A green emitting phosphor with very bright and long lasting phosphorescence has been newly developed in this article, where the incorporation of ion into the system as an auxiliary activator dominates the phosphorescence, thermoluminescence and photoconductivity characteristics of the phosphor to a large extent.

Mechanism of Phosphorescence Appropriate for the Long-Lasting Phosphors Eu2+-Doped SrAl2O4 with Codopants Dy3+ and B3+

TL;DR: In this article, the authors formulated a new mechanism of phosphorescence on the basis of the fact that the d orbitals of Eu2+ are located near the conduction band bottom of SrAl2O4, and that the Eu 2+ concentration decreases during UV excitation.

Persistent Luminescence in Non-Eu2+-Doped Compounds: A Review.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an overview of non-Eu2+-based persistent luminescent materials and their afterglow properties and take a closer look at some remaining challenges, such as the excitability with visible light and the possibility of energy transfer between multiple luminaries.
