TLDR
In this paper, a summary of the actual knowledge in plasma spraying with an emphasis on the points where work is still in progress is presented, including: the plasma torches with the resulting plasma jets and their interactions with the surrounding environment, powder injection with the heat, momentum and mass transfers between particles and first plasma jets, the particles flattening and solidification, forming splats which then layer to form the coating.Abstract:
This article intends to summarize our actual knowledge in plasma spraying with an emphasis on the points where work is still in progress. It presents successively: the plasma torches with the resulting plasma jets and their interactions with the surrounding environment; the powder injection with the heat, momentum and mass transfers between particles and first plasma jets and then plasma plume; the particles flattening and solidification, forming splats which then layer to form the coating; the latest developments related to the production of plasma sprayed finely structured coatings.read more

An Overview of Processing and Properties of CU/CNT Nano Composites
TL;DR: In this paper, the reports on Cu/CNT composites are critically analyzed with respect to the process techniques, mechanical, electrical and tribological properties of the composites, and a critical volume fraction above that both the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity are drastically reduced due to the problems of CNTs agglomeration and the increase of process related defects such as porosity, delamination and so on.

Particle Injection in Direct Current Air Plasma Spray: Salient Observations and Optimization Strategies
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of key variables on particle injection in a spray stream has been investigated and a notable observation is the existence of a "sweet-spot" in the plasma jet where the particle temperatures and velocities achieved a maximum, which is characterized by the plume position (location of centroid of the spray stream) rather than carrier gas flow rate.

Optimisation of plasma sprayed hydroxyapatite coatings
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of five process parameters (factors), including current, gas flow rate, powder feed rate, spray distance, and Carrier Gas Flow Rate, on the coating properties was investigated.
