TLDR
The acid-detergent fiber method (ADF) as mentioned in this paper is a fiber method based on cetyl trimethylammonium bromide to dissolve proteins in acid solution.
Abstract
The capacity of cetyl trimethylammonium bromide to dissolve proteins in acid solution has been utilized in development of a method, called acid-detergent fiber method (ADF), which is not only a fiber determination in itself bnt also the major preparatory step in the determination of lignin. The entire procedure for determining fiber and lignin is considerably more rapid than presently published methods. Compositional studies show ADF to consist chiefly of lignin and polysaccharides. Correlations with the new fiber method and digestibility of 18 forages (r = —0.79) showed it to be somewhat superior to crude fiber (r = —0.73) in estimating nutritive valué. The correla-

Precipitation Regime and Nitrogen Addition Effects on Leaf Litter Decomposition in Tropical Dry Forests

TL;DR: In this article, a year-long field experiment was conducted to investigate how nitrogen addition affected decomposition of Piscidia piscipula and Gymnopodium floribundum along a precipitation gradient in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.

Seasonal Variations in Foods and Digestion of Mongolian Gazelles in China

TL;DR: It is suggested that Mongolian gazelles can digest fibrous food more efficiently during autumn and winter than during spring, and the grazing of livestock should be reduced to provide high-quality and abundant forage in Mongolia's gazelle habitat.

Moose Alces alces bite diameter selection in relation to twig quality on four phenotypes of Scots pine Pinus sylvestris

TL;DR: Chemical and morphological analyses of the trees indicated that twig fibre and tree/shoot size strongly affected moose bite diameter choice, and sight and chewing sensation are suggested to be the main browsing strategies used by moose.
