TLDR
The acid-detergent fiber method (ADF) as mentioned in this paper is a fiber method based on cetyl trimethylammonium bromide to dissolve proteins in acid solution.
Abstract
The capacity of cetyl trimethylammonium bromide to dissolve proteins in acid solution has been utilized in development of a method, called acid-detergent fiber method (ADF), which is not only a fiber determination in itself bnt also the major preparatory step in the determination of lignin. The entire procedure for determining fiber and lignin is considerably more rapid than presently published methods. Compositional studies show ADF to consist chiefly of lignin and polysaccharides. Correlations with the new fiber method and digestibility of 18 forages (r = —0.79) showed it to be somewhat superior to crude fiber (r = —0.73) in estimating nutritive valué. The correla-

The effect of stocking rate and calving date on milk production of Holstein-Friesian dairy cows

TL;DR: Though reducing per animal production, increased SR resulted in increased milk and milk solids production per ha and adjusting mean CD may be an effective strategy to align animal requirements and grass supply and reduce the requirement for supplements at increased SR in early lactation.

Fibre digestion and digesta retention from different physical forms of the feed in the rabbit

TL;DR: The results suggest that the digestibility of fine components relates to their physical properties which affect the retention time of digesta in the rabbit.

Effect of extrusion-cooking process on the chemical composition of corn-wheat extrudates, with particular emphasis on dietary fibre fractions

TL;DR: In this paper, a study was conducted on the use of wheat bran as a potential source of dietary fibre in the technology of counter-rotation twin-screw extrusion.

Differences between cattle and sheep in their digestion and relative intake of a mature tropical grass hay

TL;DR: Differences between cattle and sheep in the concentrations of urea and sulphate in blood, and the relatively lower excretion of N, P and Ca by the cattle suggested that the rumen micro-organisms of the cattle were utilizing these nutrients better than those of the sheep.
