TLDR
The acid-detergent fiber method (ADF) as mentioned in this paper is a fiber method based on cetyl trimethylammonium bromide to dissolve proteins in acid solution.
Abstract
The capacity of cetyl trimethylammonium bromide to dissolve proteins in acid solution has been utilized in development of a method, called acid-detergent fiber method (ADF), which is not only a fiber determination in itself bnt also the major preparatory step in the determination of lignin. The entire procedure for determining fiber and lignin is considerably more rapid than presently published methods. Compositional studies show ADF to consist chiefly of lignin and polysaccharides. Correlations with the new fiber method and digestibility of 18 forages (r = —0.79) showed it to be somewhat superior to crude fiber (r = —0.73) in estimating nutritive valué. The correla-

The voluntary feed intake of pigs given feeds based on wheat bran, dried citrus pulp and grass meal, in relation to measurements of feed bulk

TL;DR: The time of adaptation to bulky feeds needs to be considered when attempting to measure, or predict, the rates of intake on different bulky feeds and the WHC of the feeds could be an appropriate measurement of 'bulk' responsible for limiting their intake, and could be used to predict the maximum feed intake capacity of pigs onDifferent bulky feeds.

Effects of cattle feeding regimen and soil management type on the fate of Escherichia coli O157:H7 and salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium in manure, manure-amended soil, and lettuce.

TL;DR: The results indicate that cattle diet and soil management are important factors with respect to the survival of human pathogens in the environment.

Application of Protein-to-Fiber Ratios to Predict Colobine Abundance on Different Spatial Scales

TL;DR: The degree to which the average protein-to-fiber ratio of mature leaves of the 20 most abundant tree species predicts the biomass of western red colobus (Piliocolobus trephosceles) and black-and-white colobu (Colobus guereza) over very small spatial scales is quantified.

Tensile mechanical properties, morphological aspects and chemical characterization of piassava (Attalea funifera) fibers

TL;DR: In this paper, the tensile mechanical properties of piassava fibers, as well as their chemical composition and morphological aspects, are reported, and it is shown that piasso has a mechanical behavior and chemical composition comparable to that of coir fibers.
