TLDR
Investigating changes in the diffusion tensor imaging measures, axial diffusivity and radialdiffusivity, in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis using the voxel-based statistical analysis tool, tract based spatial statistics found they may be useful diffusion tensors-derived indices to consider in addition to fractional anisotropy and mean diffusiveness to aid in demonstrating neurodegenerative changes.

Mechanisms of white matter changes induced by meditation

TL;DR: This work found that a form of mindfulness meditation, integrative body–mind training (IBMT), improved FA in areas surrounding the anterior cingulate cortex after 4-wk training more than controls given relaxation training, indicating improved efficiency of white matter involves increased myelin as well as other axonal changes.

Current Clinical Applications of Diffusion-Tensor Imaging in Neurological Disorders.

TL;DR: The clinical role of DTI in various disease processes such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's dementia, epilepsy, ischemic stroke, stroke with motor or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and depression is summarized.

Deep learning predictions of survival based on MRI in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

TL;DR: The findings show the added value of MRI with respect to predicting survival in ALS, demonstrating the advantage of deep learning in disease prognostication.

Quantitative Tract-Specific Measures of Uncinate and Cingulum in Major Depression Using Diffusion Tensor Imaging

TL;DR: Novel findings of white matter microstructural abnormalities of the right UF of the uncinate fasciculus and cingulum bundle in major depressive disorders are demonstrated, which have implications for both clinical manifestations of depression as well as its pathophysiology.

Sex differences in white matter development during adolescence: A DTI study

TL;DR: The results suggest that boys (13-18 years) continued to demonstrate white matter maturation, whereas girls appeared to reach mature levels earlier, and the preliminary evidence presented in this study supports that boys and girls have different developmental trajectories in white matter microstructure.

A global optimisation method for robust affine registration of brain images

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the use of local optimisation methods together with the standard multi-resolution approach is not sufficient to reliably find the global minimum, so a global optimisation method is proposed that is specifically tailored to this form of registration.

Tract-based spatial statistics: voxelwise analysis of multi-subject diffusion data.

TL;DR: TBSS aims to improve the sensitivity, objectivity and interpretability of analysis of multi-subject diffusion imaging studies by solving the question of how to align FA images from multiple subjects in a way that allows for valid conclusions to be drawn from the subsequent voxelwise analysis.

Nonparametric permutation tests for functional neuroimaging: A primer with examples

TL;DR: The standard nonparametric randomization and permutation testing ideas are developed at an accessible level, using practical examples from functional neuroimaging, and the extensions for multiple comparisons described.

MR diffusion tensor spectroscopy and imaging.

TL;DR: Once Deff is estimated from a series of NMR pulsed-gradient, spin-echo experiments, a tissue's three orthotropic axes can be determined and the effective diffusivities along these orthotropic directions are the eigenvalues of Deff.
