In this paper, thin films of molybdenum oxysulphides which could be used as positive electrode materials in microbatteries were analyzed by XPS.
Abstract
Thin films of molybdenum oxysulphides which could be used as positive electrode materials in microbatteries were analysed by XPS. The results have shown the existence of a new environment for molybdenum with S 2 2- pairs, S 2- and O 2- ions. The evolution of these thin films MoOySz at different stages of their cycle in experimental generators has also been studied; the main elements involved in the redox processes have been characterized: molybdenum atoms with+6 formal oxidation number and disulphide pairs S 2 2-

Crystal Defect Engineering of Aurivillius Bi2MoO6 by Ce Doping for Increased Reactive Species Production in Photocatalysis

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors developed a general strategy to manufacture and mediate crystal defects in the host Bi2MoO6 lattice by varying the cerium dopant content, resulting in greatly improved visible-light-driven photocatalytic performance for the degradation of highly toxic nerve agent simulants (NAS) and organic dyes, as well as bacterial photoinactivation.

Converting CoMoO4 into CoO/MoOx for Overall Water Splitting by Hydrogenation

TL;DR: In this article, a CoO/MoOx crystalline/amorphous structure was reported as an effective bifunctional electrocatalyst for water splitting, which showed small onset overpotential of 40 and 230 mV for the HER and OER in 1.0 M KOH, respectively, and overall water splitting starting at 1.53 V with a robust stability.

Enhanced photovoltaic performances of graphene/Si solar cells by insertion of a MoS2 thin film

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the photovoltaic performances of graphene/Si Schottky junction solar cells were significantly improved by inserting a chemical vapor deposition (CVD)-grown, large MoS2 thin-film layer that functions as an effective electron-blocking/hole-transporting layer.

Time-dependent evolution of the Bi3.64Mo0.36O6.55/Bi2MoO6 heterostructure for enhanced photocatalytic activity via the interfacial hole migration

TL;DR: This work provides a novel route to fabricate heterostructured photocatalysts, as well as gives a strategy for mediating the charge migration to improve photoc atalytic performance.

Photoemission study of the electronic structure of Mo and Mo oxides

TL;DR: In this article, the XPS valence band of MoO2 can be qualitatively described using the molecular orbital model based on a distorted rutile structure with a characteristic structure around 5 eV reflecting the existence of cationic d interactions.

Analysis of molybdenum(3d) XPS spectra of supported molybdenum catalysts: an alternative approach

TL;DR: In this paper, a new interpretation of the Mo(3d) XPS spectra of reduced supported Mo catalysts is proposed, based on the assumption of a linear relation between the binding energies and the oxidation numbers of Mo states, with a slope of 0.8 eV per oxidation state.
