An upper limit to the photon fraction in cosmic rays above 10(19) eV from the Pierre Auger Observatory

J. Abraham, +425 more
TL;DR: In this article, an upper bound of 16% (at 95% c.l.) was derived for the photon fraction in cosmic rays with energies greater than 1019 eV, based on observations of the depth of shower maximum performed with the hybrid detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory.
Journal ArticleDOI

MHD simulation of an interaction of a shock wave with a magnetic cloud

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show how a magnetic cloud (flux rope) propagating with a speed 3 times higher than the ambient solar wind is affected by an even faster traveling shock wave overtaking the cloud.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anisotropy studies around the galactic centre at EeV energies with the Auger Observatory

J. Abraham, +431 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Pierre Auger Observatory data were analyzed to search for anisotropies near the direction of the Galactic Centre at EeV energies, and the results do not support previous findings of localized excesses in the AGASA and SUGAR data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spheroidal models of magnetic clouds and their comparison with spacecraft measurements

TL;DR: In this article, magnetic force-free solutions for spherical, oblate, and prolate clouds are presented and their magnetic field configurations are shown. But no exact determination of the cloud boundaries has been given up to now.
Journal ArticleDOI

October/November 2003 interplanetary coronal mass ejections: ACE/EPAM solar energetic particle observations

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyze the energetic particle signatures measured at 1 AU by the EPAM experiment on board ACE during the passage and in the vicinity of these ICMEs, and use these signatures as diagnostic tracers of the large-scale structure and topology of the interplanetary magnetic field embedded within both ICME events.
