Chloroquine, an Endocytosis Blocking Agent, Inhibits Zika Virus Infection in Different Cell Models
Rodrigo Delvecchio,Luisa M. Higa,Paula Pezzuto,Ana Luiza Chaves Valadão,Patricia P. Garcez,Fábio Luiz Monteiro,Erick Correia Loiola,André Alves Dias,Fabio J Moreira da Silva,Matthew T. Aliota,Elizabeth A. Caine,Jorge E. Osorio,Maria Bellio,David H. O’Connor,Stevens K. Rehen,Renato S. Aguiar,Andrea Savarino,Loraine Campanati,Amilcar Tanuri +18 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that chloroquine reduces the number of ZikV-infected cells in vitro, and inhibits virus production and cell death promoted by ZIKV infection without cytotoxic effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Natural Plant Alkaloid (Emetine) Inhibits HIV-1 Replication by Interfering with Reverse Transcriptase Activity.
Ana Luiza Chaves Valadão,Celina Monteiro Abreu,Juliana Zanatta Dias,Pablo Ricardo Arantes,Hugo Verli,Amilcar Tanuri,Renato S. Aguiar +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that emetine is able to penetrate in intact HIV particles, and bind and block reverse transcription reaction, suggesting that it can be used as anti-HIV microbicide, as well as as an antiviral agent against Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interplay between Inflammation and Cellular Stress Triggered by Flaviviridae Viruses
TL;DR: The new findings that connect the inflammatory pathways to cellular stress sensors and the strategies of Flaviviridae members to counteract these cellular mechanisms and escape immune response are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human NLRP1 is a sensor of pathogenic coronavirus 3CL proteases in lung epithelial cells
Rémi Planès,Miriam Pinilla,Karin Santoni,Audrey Hessel,Charlotte Passemar,Kenneth James Lay,P. Paillette,Ana Luiza Chaves Valadão,Kim S. Robinson,Paul Bastard,Nathan Lam,Ricardo Fadrique,Ida Rossi,David Péricat,Salimata Bagayoko,Stephen A. Leon-Icaza,Yoann Rombouts,Eric Perouzel,M Tiraby,Qian Zhang,Pietro Cicuta,Emmanuelle Jouanguy,Olivier Neyrolles,Clare E. Bryant,Andres Floto,Caroline Goujon,Franklin Zhong Lei,Guillaume Martin-Blondel,Stein Silva,Jean-Laurent Casanova,Céline Cougoule,Bruno Reversade,Julien Marcoux,Emmanuel Ravet,Etienne Meunier +34 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors identify the NLRP1 inflammasome as a sensor of SARS-CoV-2 infection in lung epithelia and demonstrate that 3CL proteases also inactivate the pyroptosis executioner Gasdermin D (GSDMD).
Journal ArticleDOI
Bidirectional genome-wide CRISPR screens reveal host factors regulating SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV and seasonal HCoVs
Antoine Rebendenne,Priyanka Roy,Boris Bonaventure,Ana Luiza Chaves Valadão,Lowiese Desmarets,Mary Arnaud-Arnould,Yves Rouillé,Marine Tauziet,Donatella Giovannini,Jawida Touhami,Yenarae Lee,Peter C DeWeirdt,Mudra Hegde,Serge Urbach,Khadija El Koulali,Francisco Garcia de Gracia,Joe McKellar,Jean Dubuisson,Mélanie Wencker,Sandrine Belouzard,Olivier Moncorgé,John G. Doench,Caroline Goujon +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors conducted a meta-analysis of CRISPR knockout (KO) screens, which showed a high level of cell-type specificity of the identified hits, highlighting the necessity of additional models to uncover the full landscape of host factors.
