The natural history study of preclinical genetic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD): a prospective longitudinal study protocol

TL;DR: In this article , the authors presented the protocol of a cross-sectional and longitudinal natural history study of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) patients and first-degree relatives of gCJD patients, aiming to identify biological markers of preclinical CJD and risk factors for phenoconversion.

Journal ArticleDOI

Association of Olfactory Performance With Motor Decline and Age at Onset in People With Parkinson Disease and the LRRK2 G2019S Variant

TL;DR: Class II evidence is provided that worse olfactory scores were associated with an earlier age-at-symptomatic onset and faster rate of motor deterioration in patients with LRRK2 PD, and shows that the worst olfaction group has earlier age at PD onset, and more rapid motor decline.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glucocerebrosidase Activity Is Not Associated with Parkinson's Disease Risk or Severity

TL;DR: It is clear that a relationship between GBA1-encoded lysosomal glucocerebrosidase activity and PD risk and progression cannot be discerned by an assay that measures cell-free, resuspended, and enhanced glu cocerebosidase.
