Zabetian,Yi Zhao,Shira G. Ziegler +75 more
TL;DR: Data collected demonstrate that there is a strong association between GBA mutations and Parkinson's disease, and those with a GBA mutation presented earlier with the disease, were more likely to have affected relatives, and were morelikely to have atypical clinical manifestations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genotype-phenotype correlations between GBA mutations and Parkinson disease risk and onset
Ziv Gan-Or,Nir Giladi,U. Rozovski,C. Shifrin,Serena Rosner,Tanya Gurevich,Anat Bar-Shira,Avi Orr-Urtreger +7 more
TL;DR: Genotype-phenotype correlations between different GBA mutations and Parkinson disease (PD) risk and AAO in Ashkenazi Jews are demonstrated and an earlier AAO was observed in LRRK2 G2019S carrier PD patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential effects of severe vs mild GBA mutations on Parkinson disease
Ziv Gan-Or,Idan Amshalom,Laura L. Kilarski,Anat Bar-Shira,Mali Gana-Weisz,Anat Mirelman,Karen Marder,Susan B. Bressman,Nir Giladi,Avi Orr-Urtreger +9 more
TL;DR: Mild and severe heterozygous GBA mutations differentially affect the risk and the AAO of Parkinson disease, and the results have important implications for genetic counseling and clinical follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiorgan autonomic dysfunction in mice lacking the beta2 and the beta4 subunits of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.
Wei Xu,Avi Orr-Urtreger,Filippo Nigro,Shari E. Gelber,Cara Ballard Sutcliffe,Dawna L. Armstrong,James W. Patrick,Lorna W. Role,Arthur L. Beaudet,Mariella De Biasi +9 more
TL;DR: The previous description of a similar phenotype in α3−/− mice and the current data suggest that the α3 and the β4 subunits are major components in autonomic nAChRs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluating the suitability of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antibodies for standard immunodetection procedures
Natasha Moser,Naguib Mechawar,I. Jones,A. Gochberg-Sarver,Avi Orr-Urtreger,Markus Plomann,Ramiro Salas,B. Molles,L. Marubio,U. Roth,Uwe Maskos,Ursula H. Winzer-Serhan,Jean-Pierre Bourgeois,A.-M. Le Sourd,M. De Biasi,Hannsjörg Schröder,Jon Lindstrom,Alfred Maelicke,Jean-Pierre Changeux,Andrea Wevers +19 more
TL;DR: Unexpectedly, for each of the antibodies tested, immunoreactivity was the same in wild‐type and knock‐out mice, implying that these antibodies are not suited for immunolocalization.
