TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported that GRB 090423 lies at a redshift of z approximate to 8.2, implying that massive stars were being produced and dying as GRBs similar to 630 Myr after the Big Bang.
Journal ArticleDOI
Infrared spectroscopy of dust in the Taurus dark clouds: ice and silicates
Douglas C. B. Whittet,M. F. Bode,A. J. Longmore,Andy Adamson,A. D. McFadzean,David K. Aitken,Patrick F. Roche +6 more
TL;DR: A correlation lineaire remarquable entre l'extinction visuelle Av and la profondeur optique dans la caracteristique d'absorption 3 μm de la glace for les etoiles de champ vues a travers le nuage is investigated in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-Resolution Studies of Solid CO in the Taurus Dark Cloud: Characterizing the Ices in Quiescent Clouds
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of Abundant CO2 Ice in the Quiescent Dark Cloud Medium toward Elias 16
D. C. B. Whittet,Perry A. Gerakines,Aggm Tielens,Andy Adamson,A. C. A. Boogert,Jean Chiar,T. de Graauw,Pascale Ehrenfreund,Timo Prusti,W. A. Schutte,Bart Vandenbussche,E. F. van Dishoeck +11 more
TL;DR: The first detection of solid carbon dioxide (CO2) in quiescent regions of a dark cloud in the solar neighborhood was reported in this article, which has important implications for models of ice formation and evolution in the interstellar medium.
Journal ArticleDOI
The structure, origin, and evolution of interstellar hydrocarbon grains
TL;DR: In this article, a ternary phase diagram of the Galactic diffuse ISM hydrocarbons is presented, showing that the Galactic hydrocarbon dust has, on average, a low H/C ratio and sp $^{3}$ content.
