Journal ArticleDOI

Flexibility in a tetrasaccharide fragment from the high mannose type of N-linked oligosaccharides.

TL;DR: The conformational entropy calculated from the ensemble and the distribution of distances between the terminal Man(alpha 1-3) and GlcN Ac residues, however, suggests that a significant fraction of the ensemble has the two terminal residues in close proximity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of a selective inhibitor of a fucose binding bacterial lectin from Burkholderia ambifaria

TL;DR: Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) demonstrated that this compound binds to the pathogen-associated lectin BambL with an affinity comparable to that of natural fucose-containing oligosaccharides, thus supporting the selective binding profile towards B. ambifaria lectin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Binding Sugars: From Natural Lectins to Synthetic Receptors and Engineered Neolectins

TL;DR: In this article, a biomimetic approach is proposed for the design of fully artificial glycosensors, which can also be addressed by boron chemistry and supra-molecular chemistry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multivalent Glycomimetics with Affinity and Selectivity toward Fucose-Binding Receptors from Emerging Pathogens

TL;DR: The synthetic hexavalent compound displays liable geometry resulting in high-avidity binding by lectins from Aspergillus fumigatus and Burkholderia ambifaria and provides fine specificity with no binding to other fucose-specific lectins.
