Journal ArticleDOI

The Pseudomonas aeruginosa Lectin LecB Causes Integrin Internalization and Inhibits Epithelial Wound Healing

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that LecB strongly binds to the glycosylated moieties of β1-integrins on the basolateral plasma membrane of epithelial cells and causes rapid integrin endocytosis, which provides a mechanistic explanation for this unique endocytic process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Production and properties of the native Chromobacterium violaceum fucose-binding lectin (CV-IIL) compared to homologous lectins of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA-IIL) and Ralstonia solanacearum (RS-IIL)

TL;DR: Production and properties of the native CV-IIL, which is probably also a quorum-sensing-driven secondary metabolite, appearing concomitantly with violacein, are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bacteria love our sugars: Interaction between soluble lectins and human fucosylated glycans, structures, thermodynamics and design of competing glycocompounds

TL;DR: The analysis of the available crystal structures of bacterial lectins helps deciphering the structure/function relationship involving this important class of protein, and structure-based design of glycomimetics and glycodendrimers resulted in very high affinity ligands that open the route towards novel anti-infectious strategies.
