Journal ArticleDOI
STAT3 deletion during hematopoiesis causes Crohn's disease-like pathogenesis and lethality: a critical role of STAT3 in innate immunity.
Thomas Welte,Samuel Shao Min Zhang,Tian Wang,Zhiyuan Zhang,David G.T. Hesslein,Zhinan Yin,Arihiro Kano,Yoshiki Iwamoto,Yoshiki Iwamoto,Yoshiki Iwamoto,En Li,Joe Craft,Alfred L. M. Bothwell,Erol Fikrig,Pandelakis A. Koni,Richard A. Flavell,Xin-Yuan Fu +16 more
TL;DR: The results suggest a model in which STAT3 has critical roles in the development and regulation of innate immunity, and deletion of STAT3 during hematopoiesis results in abnormalities in myeloid cells and causes Crohn's disease-like pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biocleavable Polyrotaxane−Plasmid DNA Polyplex for Enhanced Gene Delivery
Tooru Ooya,Hak Soo Choi,Atsushi Yamashita,Nobuhiko Yui,Yuko Sugaya,Arihiro Kano,Atsushi Maruyama,Hidetaka Akita,Rie Ito,Kentaro Kogure,Hideyoshi Harashima +10 more
TL;DR: Transfection of the DMAE−SS−PRX polyplex is independent of the amount of free polycation, and those properties played a key role for delivery of pDNA clusters to the nucleus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endothelial cells require STAT3 for protection against endotoxin-induced inflammation.
Arihiro Kano,Michael J. Wolfgang,Qian Gao,Joerg J. Jacoby,Gui Xuan Chai,William Hansen,Yoshiki Iwamoto,Yoshiki Iwamoto,Jordan S. Pober,Richard A. Flavell,Xin-Yuan Fu +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a soluble activity derived from endothelia and dependent on STAT3 is critical for suppression of interferon γ, and this data define STAT3 signaling within endothelium as a critical antiinflammatory mediator and provide new insight to the protective function of ECs in inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ureido-Derivatized Polymers Based on Both Poly(allylurea) and Poly(l-citrulline) Exhibit UCST-Type Phase Transition Behavior under Physiologically Relevant Conditions
TL;DR: This study demonstrated that polymers with ureido groups undergo UCST-type phase transitions under physiologically relevant conditions and suggested that the Ureido modification will be useful for production of polymer materials with UCST behavior in aqueous media.
Journal ArticleDOI
IRF-1 Is an Essential Mediator in IFN-γ-Induced Cell Cycle Arrest and Apoptosis of Primary Cultured Hepatocytes
TL;DR: It is reported here that interferon regulatory factor 1 (IRF-1) is an essential molecule in these phenomena and mediates IFN-gamma signaling into primary hepatocytes for cell cycle arrest via p53 expression and for apoptosis.
