Hobit and Blimp1 instruct a universal transcriptional program of tissue residency in lymphocytes.
Laura K. Mackay,Laura K. Mackay,Martina Minnich,Natasja A. M. Kragten,Yang Liao,Yang Liao,Benjamin Nota,Cyril Seillet,Cyril Seillet,Ali Zaid,Kevin Man,Kevin Man,Simon Preston,Simon Preston,David Freestone,Asolina Braun,Erica Wynne-Jones,Felix M. Behr,Regina Stark,Daniel G. Pellicci,Daniel G. Pellicci,Dale I. Godfrey,Dale I. Godfrey,Gabrielle T. Belz,Gabrielle T. Belz,Marc Pellegrini,Marc Pellegrini,Thomas Gebhardt,Meinrad Busslinger,Wei Shi,Wei Shi,Francis R. Carbone,René A. W. van Lier,Axel Kallies,Axel Kallies,Klaas P. J. M. van Gisbergen +35 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify Hobit and Blimp1 as central regulators of a universal program that instructs tissue retention in diverse tissue-resident lymphocyte populations, including NKT cells and liver-resident NK cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
T-box Transcription Factors Combine with the Cytokines TGF-β and IL-15 to Control Tissue-Resident Memory T Cell Fate
Laura K. Mackay,Erica Wynne-Jones,David Freestone,Daniel G. Pellicci,Daniel G. Pellicci,Lisa A. Mielke,Dane M. Newman,Asolina Braun,Frederick Masson,Frederick Masson,Axel Kallies,Gabrielle T. Belz,Francis R. Carbone +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the T-box transcription factors Eomes and T-bet combined to control CD8(+)CD103(+) Trm cell formation, such that their coordinate downregulation was crucial for TGF-β cytokine signaling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cutting Edge: CD69 Interference with Sphingosine-1-Phosphate Receptor Function Regulates Peripheral T Cell Retention
Laura K. Mackay,Asolina Braun,Bethany L. Macleod,Nicholas Collins,Christina Tebartz,Sammy Bedoui,Francis R. Carbone,Thomas Gebhardt +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that expression of CD69, by interfering with sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor function, is a critical determinant of prolonged T cell retention and local memory formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liver-Resident Memory CD8 + T Cells Form a Front-Line Defense against Malaria Liver-Stage Infection.
Daniel Fernandez-Ruiz,Wei Yi Ng,Wei Yi Ng,Lauren E. Holz,Joel Z. Ma,Ali Zaid,Yik Chun Wong,Lei Shong Lau,Vanessa Mollard,Anton Cozijnsen,Nicholas Collins,Jessica Li,Jessica Li,Gayle M. Davey,Yu Kato,Sapna Devi,Roghieh Skandari,Michael Pauley,Jonathan H. Manton,Dale I. Godfrey,Asolina Braun,Szun S. Tay,Peck Szee Tan,Peck Szee Tan,David G. Bowen,Friedrich Koch-Nolte,Björn Rissiek,Francis R. Carbone,Brendan S. Crabb,Mireille H. Lahoud,Mireille H. Lahoud,Ian A. Cockburn,Scott N. Mueller,Patrick Bertolino,Geoffrey I. McFadden,Irina Caminschi,Irina Caminschi,William R. Heath +37 more
TL;DR: It is shown that by combining dendritic cell-targeted priming with liver inflammation and antigen recognition on hepatocytes, high frequencies of Trm cells could be induced and these cells were essential for protection against malaria sporozoite challenge.
Journal ArticleDOI
Afferent lymph-derived T cells and DCs use different chemokine receptor CCR7-dependent routes for entry into the lymph node and intranodal migration
Asolina Braun,Tim Worbs,G. Leandros Moschovakis,Stephan Halle,Katharina Hoffmann,Jasmin Bölter,Anika Münk,Reinhold Förster +7 more
TL;DR: Injection of cells directly into afferent lymph vessels of popliteal lymph nodes demonstrates that lymph-derived T cells entered lymph-node parenchyma mainly from peripheral medullary sinuses, whereas dendritic cells (DCs) transmigrated through the floor of the subcapsular sinus on the afferent side.
