Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of GPCRs by Endocytic Membrane Trafficking and Its Potential Implications
TL;DR: Recent developments toward understanding the molecular machinery and functional implications of GPCR sorting in the endocytic pathway are reviewed, focusing on mammalian GPCRs whose ligand-induced endocytosis is mediated primarily by clathrin-coated pits.
Journal ArticleDOI
The short chain fatty acid propionate stimulates GLP-1 and PYY secretion via free fatty acid receptor 2 in rodents.
Arianna Psichas,Michelle L. Sleeth,Kevin Murphy,Lucy Brooks,Gavin A. Bewick,Aylin C. Hanyaloglu,M. A. Ghatei,S.R. Bloom,Gary Frost +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that FFA2 deficiency impairs SCFA-induced gut hormone secretion both in vitro and in vivo, and colonic propionate stimulates the concurrent release of both GLP-1 and PYY in rats and mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rescue of defective G protein–coupled receptor function in vivo by intermolecular cooperation
Adolfo Rivero-Müller,Yen-Yin Chou,Inhae Ji,Svetlana Lajic,Aylin C. Hanyaloglu,Kim Jonas,Nafis A. Rahman,Tae H. Ji,Ilpo Huhtaniemi,Ilpo Huhtaniemi +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the mouse luteinizing hormone receptor (LHR) was used as a model GPCR, and it was shown that transgenic mice coexpressing binding-deficient and signalingdeficient forms of LHR can reestablish normal LH actions through intermolecular functional complementation of the mutant receptors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeting GLP-1 receptor trafficking to improve agonist efficacy.
Ben Jones,Teresa Buenaventura,N Kanda,Pauline Chabosseau,Bryn M. Owen,Rebecca Scott,Robert D. Goldin,N. Angkathunyakul,N. Angkathunyakul,Ivan R. Corrêa,Domenico Bosco,Paul Johnson,Lorenzo Piemonti,Piero Marchetti,A. M. James Shapiro,Blake J. Cochran,Blake J. Cochran,Aylin C. Hanyaloglu,Asuka Inoue,Tricia Tan,Guy A. Rutter,Alejandra Tomas,Stephen R. Bloom +22 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a longer plasma membrane retention time of GLP-1R results in greater long-term insulin release, which is dependent on a reduction in β-arrestin recruitment and faster agonist dissociation rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Agonist-induced endocytosis and recycling of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor: effect of beta-arrestin on internalization kinetics
Milka Vrecl,Lorraine Anderson,Aylin C. Hanyaloglu,Alison M. McGregor,Alex D. Groarke,Graeme Milligan,Philip L. Taylor,Karin A. Eidne +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that, despite having no intracellular carboxy-terminal tail, the GnRH receptor undergoes agonist-stimulated internalization displaying distinctive characteristics described for other GPCRs that internalize via a clathrin-dependent mechanism and recycle through an acidified endosomal compartment.
