Effects of seawater carbonate ion concentration and temperature on shell U, Mg, and Sr in cultured planktonic foraminifera

TL;DR: In this article, the sensitivity of calcite produced by two planktonic foraminifera species, Orbulina universa and Globige- rina bulloides, in laboratory culture experiments was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Concentration Across the Mid-Pleistocene Transition

TL;DR: A 2.1-million-year record of sea surface partial pressure of CO2 (Pco2), based on boron isotopes in planktic foraminifer shells, suggests that the atmospheric partial pressure (pco2) was relatively stable before the mid-Pleistocene climate transition, which is consistent with a close linkage between atmospheric CO2 concentration and global climate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interglacials of the last 800,000 years

TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify eleven interglacials in the last 800,000 years, a result that is robust to alternative definitions, such as the onset of an interglacial (glacial termination) seems to require a reducing precession parameter (increasing Northern Hemisphere summer insolation), but this condition alone is insufficient.
