Steady state fuel consumption optimization through feedback control of estimated cylinder individual efficiency

TL;DR: This paper presents a method to use the estimated efficiency as a feedback variable in an extremum seeking control strategy for online steady state fuel consumption optimization and shows that the controller manages to find the maximum brake torque region at the given operating point both with and without external excitation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Screening for Familial Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms with Aortic Imaging Does Not Detect All Potential Carriers of the Disease.

TL;DR: It is shown that a substantial number of previously unknown cases of aortic dilatation can be identified by screening family members, and it is, however, not possible to consider anyone free of the condition, even if the aorta diameter is normal, especially at a younger age.
Journal ArticleDOI

The potential of proton beam radiation therapy in prostate cancer, other urological cancers and gynaecological cancers.

TL;DR: A group of Swedish oncologists and hospital physicists have estimated the number of patients in Sweden suitable for proton beam therapy based on current statistics of tumour incidence, number of Patients potentially eligible for radiation treatment, scientific support from clinical trials and model dose planning studies and knowledge of the dose-response relations of different tumours and normal tissues.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

High Speed Combustion Imaging in a Large Bore Gas Engine: The Relationship Between Pre- and Main Chamber Heat Release

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental study is carried out to investigate the combustion process in a Wartsila 34SG spark-ignited lean burn four-stroke large bore engine (bore 340 mm) by means of optical diagnostics when operating on natural gas.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Auto-Ignition of Iso-Stoichiometric Blends of Gasoline-Ethanol-Methanol (GEM) in SI, HCCI and CI Combustion Modes

TL;DR: In this paper, Almansour and Ahmad Radhwan at the Saudi Aramco Research & Development Center for preparing and analyzing the test fuels, and the authors would like to thank the Clean Combustion Research Lab for providing the engine experiment facilities.
