Journal ArticleDOI

Invariant NKT cell-mediated modulation of ILC1s as a tool for mucosal immune intervention

TL;DR: The findings that ILC1s can become modulated by mucosally activated iNKT cells in a beneficial manner emphasize their up to now underestimated potential and renders them to be considered as targets for novel immune interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self-reported diabetes and herpes zoster are associated with a weak humoral response to the seasonal influenza A H1N1 vaccine antigen among the elderly.

TL;DR: Diabetes and herpes zoster were identified as potentially modifiable risk factors for a poor vaccine response against influenza A antigens, but the results also reveal the need for broader investigations to identifyrisk factors for inadequate responses to influenza B antigen.
Journal ArticleDOI

HIV-1 matrix protein p17 modulates in vivo preactivated murine T-cell response and enhances the induction of systemic and mucosal immunity against intranasally co-administered antigens.

TL;DR: The role of p17 in sustaining cellular activation and inflammation, thereby promoting a permissive microenvironment for HIV-1 replication is highlighted, and p17 is a promising candidate antigen, exhibiting immunomodulatory/adjuvant properties, that need to be exploited in the development of HIV/AIDS vaccines.
