Gregor K. Wenning,Felix Geser,Felix Geser,Florian Krismer,Klaus Seppi,Susanne Duerr,Sylvia Boesch,Martin Köllensperger,Georg Goebel,Karl P. Pfeiffer,Karl P. Pfeiffer,Paolo Barone,Maria Teresa Pellecchia,Niall Quinn,Vasiliki Koukouni,Clare J. Fowler,Anette Schrag,Christopher J. Mathias,Nir Giladi,Tanya Gurevich,Erik Dupont,Karen Østergaard,Christer Nilsson,Håkan Widner,Wolfgang H. Oertel,Karla Eggert,Alberto Albanese,Francesca Del Sorbo,Eduardo Tolosa,Adriana Cardozo,Günther Deuschl,Helge Hellriegel,Thomas Klockgether,Richard Dodel,Cristina Sampaio,Miguel Coelho,Ruth Djaldetti,Eldad Melamed,Thomas Gasser,Christoph Kamm,Christoph Kamm,Giuseppe Meco,Carlo Colosimo,Olivier Rascol,Wassilios G. Meissner,François Tison,Werner Poewe +46 more
TL;DR: The final analysis of a prospective multicentre study by the European MSA Study Group provides new insights into the evolution of MSA based on a follow-up period that exceeds that of previous studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
GLUT1 mutations are a cause of paroxysmal exertion-induced dyskinesias and induce hemolytic anemia by a cation leak
Yvonne G. Weber,Alexander Storch,Thomas V. Wuttke,Knut Brockmann,Judith S. Kempfle,Snezana Maljevic,Lucia Margari,Christoph Kamm,Susanne A. Schneider,Stephan M. Huber,Arnulf Pekrun,Robert Roebling,Guiscard Seebohm,Saisudha Koka,Camelia Lang,Eduard Kraft,Dragica Blazevic,Alberto Salvo-Vargas,Michael Fauler,Felix M. Mottaghy,Alexander Münchau,Mark J. Edwards,Anna Presicci,Francesco Margari,Thomas Gasser,Florian Lang,Kailash P. Bhatia,Frank Lehmann-Horn,Holger Lerche +28 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the dyskinesias result from an exertion-induced energy deficit that may cause episodic dysfunction of the basal ganglia, and that the hemolysis with echinocytosis may result from alterations in intracellular electrolytes caused by a cation leak through mutant GLUT1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Red flags for multiple system atrophy
Martin Köllensperger,Felix Geser,Klaus Seppi,Michaela Stampfer-Kountchev,Martin Sawires,Christoph Scherfler,Sylvia Boesch,Joerg Mueller,Vasiliki Koukouni,Niall Quinn,Maria Teresa Pellecchia,Paolo Barone,Nicole Schimke,Richard Dodel,Wolfgang H. Wenning +38 more
TL;DR: A combination of two out of six red flag categories as additional diagnostic criteria for probable MSA‐P is proposed and 76.5% of them would have been correctly diagnosed as probable Msa‐P 15.9 months earlier than with the Consensus criteria alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hereditary spastic paraplegia: Clinicogenetic lessons from 608 patients.
Rebecca Schüle,Sarah Wiethoff,Peter Martus,Kathrin N. Karle,Kathrin N. Karle,S. Otto,Stephan Klebe,Sven Klimpe,Constanze Gallenmüller,Delia Kurzwelly,Dorothea Henkel,Florian Rimmele,H. Stolze,Zacharias Kohl,Jan Kassubek,Thomas Klockgether,Thomas Klockgether,Stefan Vielhaber,Stefan Vielhaber,Christoph Kamm,Christoph Kamm,Thomas Klopstock,Thomas Klopstock,Peter Bauer,Stephan Züchner,Inga Liepelt-Scarfone,Inga Liepelt-Scarfone,Ludger Schöls,Ludger Schöls +28 more
TL;DR: B baseline data from a continuous, prospective cohort was analyzed to investigate the phenotypic spectrum, prognostic factors, and genotype‐specific differences in HSPs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wenning +43 more
TL;DR: This largest clinical series of MSA patients reported so far shows that the disease presents uniformly across Europe, and the observed differences in diagnostic and therapeutic management including lack of therapy for dysautonomia emphasize the need for future guidelines in these areas.
