The ecoresponsive genome of Daphnia pulex

John K. Colbourne, +85 more
- 04 Feb 2011 -
TL;DR: The Daphnia genome reveals a multitude of genes and shows adaptation through gene family expansions, and the coexpansion of gene families interacting within metabolic pathways suggests that the maintenance of duplicated genes is not random.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sampling Daphnia 's expressed genes: preservation, expansion and invention of crustacean genes with reference to insect genomes

TL;DR: This study reports on the first characterization of cDNA libraries and sequences for the model crustacean Daphnia pulex and identifies genes that are likely derived within Pancrustacea or lost within the nematodes, as well as lineage specific gene family expansions, which suggest certain biological demands associated with their ecological setting.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Daphnia Genomics Consortium Meeting: The Genome Biology of the Model Crustacean Daphnia

TL;DR: In collaboration with the US Department of Energy Joint Genome Institute (JGI; CA, USA), the Daphnia Genomics Consortium (DGC) successfully sequenced the D. pulex genome, representing the first crustacean genome to be analyzed.
