The conservation status of the world's reptiles

Monika Böhm, +243 more
TL;DR: The results provide the first analysis of the global conservation status and distribution patterns of reptiles and the threats affecting them, highlighting conservation priorities and knowledge gaps which need to be addressed urgently to ensure the continued survival of the world’s reptiles.
Journal Article

Climate change and Australian marine life

TL;DR: Climate model simulations project oceanic warming, an increase in ocean stratification and decrease in mixing depth, increased ocean acidification, a rise in sea level, alterations in cloud cover and ozone levels altering the levels of solar radiation reaching the ocean surface, and altered storm and rainfall regimes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sources and uptake of trace metals in otoliths of juvenile barramundi (Lates calcarifer)

TL;DR: Under experimental conditions, otolith concentrations of several trace metals are related to water concentrations, however, these patterns do not simply extrapolate to the natural environment where the mechanisms involved appear to be more complex.
Journal ArticleDOI

Species composition, community structure and zoogeography of fishes of mangrove estuaries in the Solomon Islands

TL;DR: The role of the estuaries as nursery grounds for coral reef species was assessed and found to be insignificant, but they are used as feeding grounds by mobile piscivorous species and the fauna is typical of such mangrove systems throughout the region.
