Optical Properties and Dynamics of Galaxies in the Hickson Compact Groups

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of galaxies in 21 Hickson compact groups are presented, where the velocity patterns range from too peculiar to form rotation curves (one third of spiral sample), to abnormal (one-third), to normal (onethird); peculiar rotation curves are only loosely coupled with peculiar morphology.
Journal ArticleDOI

Emission-Line Spectroscopy of H II Regions in Irregular and Blue Compact Dwarf Galaxies

TL;DR: In this paper, reddenings and abundances of 189 H II regions measured from 203 emission-line spectra in a sample of 65 irregular (Im), blue compact dwarf (BCD), and Sm galaxies are used to determine whether redder irregular galaxies are also dustier than bluer irregulars.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Star Clusters in the Starburst Irregular Galaxy NGC 1569

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined star clusters in the irregular starburst galaxy NGC 1569 from Hubble Space Telescope images taken with filters F336W, F555W, and F814W.
Journal ArticleDOI

Legacy extraGalactic UV survey with the Hubble space telescope : stellar cluster catalogs and first insights into cluster formation and evolution in NGC 628.

Angela Adamo, +63 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the large effort that is producing comprehensive high-level young star cluster (YSC) catalogs for a significant fraction of galaxies observed with the Legacy ExtraGalactic UV Survey (LEGUS) Hubble treasury program and present the methodology developed to extract cluster positions, verify their genuine nature, produce multiband photometry (from NUV to NIR), and derive their physical properties via spectral energy distribution fitting analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and Evolution of Irregular Galaxies

TL;DR: Proprietes fondamentales: lumiere, masses et cinematique, abondances, populations stellaires as discussed by the authors, SSPSF un modele possible, etat evolutif.
