TL;DR: Prophylaxis with recombinant factor VIII can prevent joint damage and decrease the frequency of joint and other hemorrhages in young boys with severe hemophilia A.
Journal ArticleDOI
PFA-100 system: a new method for assessment of platelet dysfunction.
Eberhard F. Mammen,Robert C. Gosselin,Charles S. Greenberg,W. Hoots,Craig M. Kessler,Edward C. Larkin,Darla K. Liles,Diane J. Nugent +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the PFA-100 system is highly accurate in discriminating normal from abnormal platelet function and the ease of operation of the instrument makes it a useful tool to use in screening patients for platelet-related hemostasis defects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recommendations for the standardization of light transmission aggregometry : a consensus of the working party from the platelet physiology subcommittee of SSC/ISTH
Marco Cattaneo,Chiara Cerletti,Paul Harrison,Catherine P.M. Hayward,Dermot Kenny,Diane J. Nugent,Paquita Nurden,A. K. Rao,Alvin H. Schmaier,Steve P. Watson,Federico Lussana,Mariateresa Pugliano,Alan D. Michelson +12 more
TL;DR: The Platelet Physiology Subcommittee of the Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis formed a working party of experts with the aim of producing a series of consensus recommendations for standardizing LTA, which formed the basis of a consensus document, which is the subject of the present report.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) plasma and purified ITP monoclonal autoantibodies inhibit megakaryocytopoiesis in vitro.
Mei Chang,Peggy Nakagawa,Shirley A. Williams,Michael Schwartz,Karen L. Imfeld,Jeffrey S. Buzby,Diane J. Nugent +6 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that autoantibodies against either platelet GPIb or platelet GPIIb/IIIa in ITP plasma not only are involved in platelet destruction, but may also contribute to the inhibition of platelet production.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Analysis of allogeneic bone marrow transplantation from HLA-identical siblings for thalassemia and sickle cell disease found related CBT for hemoglobinopathies offers a good probability of success and is associated with a low risk of GVHD.
