The impact of the Fungus-Host-Microbiota interplay upon Candida albicans infections: current knowledge and new perspectives
Christophe d'Enfert,Ann-Kristin Kaune,Leovigildo-Rey Alaban,Sayoni Chakraborty,Sayoni Chakraborty,Nathaniel Cole,Margot Delavy,Margot Delavy,Daria Kosmala,Daria Kosmala,Benoît Marsaux,Ricardo Fróis-Martins,Moran Morelli,Diletta Rosati,Marisa Valentine,Zixuan Xie,Yoan Emritloll,Peter A Warn,Frédéric Bequet,Marie-Elisabeth Bougnoux,Stéphanie Bornes,Mark S. Netea,Karla Queiroz,Karine Roget,Vincent Thomas,Claudia Thoral,Pieter Van den Abbeele,Alan W. Walker,Alistair J. P. Brown +35 more
TL;DR: It is argued that a detailed understanding of these variables, which underlie fungal-host-microbiota interactions, will present opportunities for directed antifungal therapies that benefit vulnerable patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: An Immunological Perspective.
TL;DR: An overview of the current understanding of the host immune response in VVC pathogenesis is provided and it is suggested that a tightly regulated fungus–host–microbiota interplay might exert a protective role against recurrent Candida infections.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcriptional and functional insights into the host immune response against the emerging fungal pathogen Candida auris
Mariolina Bruno,Simone Kersten,Judith M. Bain,Martin Jaeger,Diletta Rosati,Michael D. Kruppa,Douglas W. Lowman,Peter J. Rice,Bridget M. Graves,Zuchao Ma,Yue Ning Jiao,Anuradha Chowdhary,George Renieris,Frank L. van de Veerdonk,Bart Jan Kullberg,Evangelos J. Giamarellos-Bourboulis,Alexander Hoischen,Neil A. R. Gow,Neil A. R. Gow,Alistair J. P. Brown,Alistair J. P. Brown,Jacques F. Meis,Jacques F. Meis,David L. Williams,Mihai G. Netea,Mihai G. Netea +25 more
TL;DR: Transcriptional and functional immune-cell profiling reveals that Candida auris is a strong inducer of innate host defence and identifies possible targets for adjuvant immunotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis associated with viral pneumonitis.
I. M. W. Dewi,Nico A F Janssen,Diletta Rosati,Mariolina Bruno,Mihai G. Netea,Roger Jm Brüggemann,Paul E. Verweij,Frank L. van de Veerdonk +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss several aspects regarding IAPA and CAPA, including their possible pathogenesis, the use of immunotherapy, and future challenges, as well as future challenges.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, a protocol to recapitulate this in vitro using adherent monocytes from consecutive isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells is presented, and the induction of trained immunity and associated functional reprogramming of monocytes is described in detail using β-glucan (from Candida albicans) and Bacillus Calmette-Guerin as examples.
