TL;DR: The involvement of the FCGR2A locus may have implications for understanding immune activation in Kawasaki disease pathogenesis and the mechanism of response to intravenous immunoglobulin, the only proven therapy for this disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vision loss in Australia
Hugh R. Taylor,Jill E Keeffe,Hien T. V. Vu,Jie Jin Wang,Elena Rochtchina,M Lynne Pezzullo,Paul Mitchell +6 more
TL;DR: Vision loss in Australia is a much bigger problem than is usually recognised; 76% of low vision is caused by uncorrected refractive error or cataract, both readily treatable; however, the prevention and treatment of macular degeneration is very important.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unilateral visual impairment and health related quality of life: the Blue Mountains Eye Study
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of unilateral visual impairment on health related quality of life (HRQOL) in an older community, as assessed by the generic, multidimensional 36 item short form health survey (SF-36), was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between circulating white blood cell count and cancer mortality: a population-based cohort study.
TL;DR: These data provide new epidemiological evidence of an association between circulating WBC count, a widely available marker of inflammation, and subsequent cancer mortality.
