TL;DR: The involvement of the FCGR2A locus may have implications for understanding immune activation in Kawasaki disease pathogenesis and the mechanism of response to intravenous immunoglobulin, the only proven therapy for this disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kawasaki disease: an evidence based approach to diagnosis, treatment, and proposals for future research
Paul A. Brogan,Amitabha Bose,David Burgner,D. Shingadia,Robert Tulloh,Colin Michie,Nigel Klein,Robert Booy,Michael Levin,M J Dillon +9 more
TL;DR: A clinical guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of Kawasaki disease in the UK based on the best available evidence to date is proposed, and areas of practice where evidence is anecdotal or based on retrospective data are highlighted.
Journal ArticleDOI
The challenge of mastitis
Colin Michie,F Lockie,W Lynn +2 more
TL;DR: The process of lactation and feeding, referred to by some as the final stage of labour is remarkably successful, but a significant complication of breast feeding remains inflammation of the lactating tissue: the pathology of mastitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kawasaki disease: a prospective population survey in the UK and Ireland from 2013 to 2015

TL;DR: The UK and Ireland incidence of Kawasaki disease has increased and is more frequently seen in winter and rural areas, suggesting earlier and adjunctive primary treatment might reduce complications to prevent CAA, particularly in the very young.
Journal ArticleDOI
Behaviour sequelae following acute Kawasaki disease
TL;DR: Kawasaki disease can be associated with significant behavioural sequelae and referral to a clinical psychologist may be necessary in selected patients.
