TL;DR: The goal of this consortium is to characterize variations in approximately 50 genes that mediate two pathways that are associated with these cancers ?
Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary intakes of ω‐6 and ω‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and the risk of breast cancer
Anne C. M. Thiébaut,Veronique Chajes,Mariette Gerber,Marie-Christine Boutron-Ruault,Virginie Joulin,Gilbert M. Lenoir,Franco Berrino,Elio Riboli,Jacques Benichou,Françoise Clavel-Chapelon +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between individual PUFA intake estimated from diet history questionnaires and breast cancer risk was examined among 56,007 French women, who developed invasive breast cancer during 8 years of follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatty-acid composition in serum phospholipids and risk of breast cancer: an incident case-control study in Sweden.
Véronique Chajes,Kerstin Hultén,Anne Linda Van Kappel,Anna Winkvist,Rudolf Kaaks,Göran Hallmans,Per Lenner,Elio Riboli +7 more
TL;DR: Examination of fatty‐acid composition of phospholipids in pre‐diagnostic sera of 196 women who developed breast cancer and of 388 controls matched for age at recruitment and duration of follow‐up showed no significant association between n‐3 PUFA and breast cancer risk, suggesting a protective role of stearic acid in breast‐cancer risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intragenic ATM Methylation in Peripheral Blood DNA as a Biomarker of Breast Cancer Risk
Kevin Brennan,Montserrat Garcia-Closas,Nick Orr,Olivia Fletcher,Michael Jones,Alan Ashworth,Anthony J. Swerdlow,Heather Thorne,Elio Riboli,Paolo Vineis,Miren Dorronsoro,Françoise Clavel-Chapelon,Salvatore Panico,N. Charlotte Onland-Moret,Dimitrios Trichopoulos,Rudolf Kaaks,Kay-Tee Khaw,Robert S. Brown,James M. Flanagan +18 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that WBC DNA methylation levels at ATM could be a marker of breast cancer risk and further support the pursuit of epigenome-wide association studies of peripheral blood DNAmethylation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term weight change and breast cancer risk: the European prospective investigation into cancer and nutrition (EPIC).
Petra H. Lahmann,M. Schulz,Kurt Hoffmann,Heiner Boeing,Anne Tjønneland,Anja Olsen,Kim Overvad,Timothy J. Key,Naomi E. Allen,Kay-Tee Khaw,Sheila Bingham,Göran Berglund,Elisabet Wirfält,Franco Berrino,Vittorio Krogh,Antonia Trichopoulou,Pagona Lagiou,Dimitrios Trichopoulos,Rudolf Kaaks,Elio Riboli +19 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that large adult weight gain was a significant predictor of breast cancer in postmenopausal women not taking exogenous hormones, although, overall, these women experienced a much higher risk of Breast cancer compared with nonusers.
