Type I and II Endometrial Cancers: Have They Different Risk Factors?

Veronica Wendy Setiawan, +66 more
TL;DR: The results of this pooled analysis suggest that the two endometrial cancer types share many common etiologic factors, and the etiology of type II tumors may, therefore, not be completely estrogen independent, as previously believed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic analyses of diverse populations improves discovery for complex traits

Genevieve L. Wojcik, +90 more
- 27 Jun 2019 -
TL;DR: The value of diverse, multi-ethnic participants in large-scale genomic studies is demonstrated and evidence of effect-size heterogeneity across ancestries for published GWAS associations, substantial benefits for fine-mapping using diverse cohorts and insights into clinical implications are shown.
Journal ArticleDOI

NASH Leading Cause of Liver Transplant in Women: Updated Analysis of Indications For Liver Transplant and Ethnic and Gender Variances.

TL;DR: NASH is currently the second leading cause for LT waitlist registration/liver transplantation overall, and in females, the leading cause, and given the rate of increase, NASH will likely rise to become the leading indication for LT in males as well.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protective effect of green tea on the risks of chronic gastritis and stomach cancer.

TL;DR: This is the first time that green tea drinking was found to be protective against chronic gastritis, which may be of importance when designing intervention strategies for stomach cancer and its pre‐malignant lesions in the high‐risk population.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prevalence of chronic liver disease and cirrhosis by underlying cause in understudied ethnic groups: The multiethnic cohort.

TL;DR: NAFLD was the most common cause of CLD and cirrhosis in the entire cohort, and the high prevalence of NAFLD among Japanese Americans and Native Hawaiians is a novel finding, warranting further studies to elucidate the causes.
