Journal ArticleDOI

A functional trait-based approach to understand community assembly and diversity-productivity relationships over 7 years in experimental grasslands

TL;DR: The results suggest that assembly processes within communities with an artificially maintained species composition maximize functional diversity through niche differentiation and exclusion of weaker competitors, thereby maintaining their potential for high productivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Water Potentials Measured by In Situ Psychrometry and Pressure Chamber in Morphologically Different Species

TL;DR: In situ psychrometers are suitable for following dynamic changes in leaf water potential, but should be used with caution on leaves with low epidermal conductances, as pressure-volume studies showed that less water was expressed from distal than proximal leaflets when the whole leaf was slowly pressurized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance of two Picea abies (L.) Karst. stands at different stages of decline : I. Carbon relations and stand growth.

TL;DR: This paper compares the growth and carbohydrate relations of the two stands and examines relationships among growth variables in ten plots and concludes that growth reduction was probably related to factors which affect both photosynthesis and the sinks for carbohydrate.
