Radar vision in the mapping of forest biodiversity from space
Soyeon Bae,Shaun R. Levick,Shaun R. Levick,Lea Heidrich,Paul Magdon,Benjamin Leutner,Stephan Wöllauer,Alla Serebryanyk,Thomas Nauss,Peter Krzystek,Martin M. Gossner,Peter Schall,Christoph Heibl,Claus Bässler,Claus Bässler,Inken Doerfler,Inken Doerfler,Ernst Detlef Schulze,Franz-Sebastian Krah,Franz-Sebastian Krah,Heike Culmsee,Kirsten Jung,Marco Heurich,Marco Heurich,Markus Fischer,Sebastian Seibold,Sebastian Seibold,Simon Thorn,Tobias Gerlach,Torsten Hothorn,Wolfgang W. Weisser,Jörg Müller,Jörg Müller +32 more
TL;DR: It is shown that freely available Sentinel-1 radar data perform as well as standard airborne laser scanning data for mapping biodiversity of 12 taxa across temperate forests in Germany.
Book ChapterDOI
Atmospheric Pollutants and Plant Metabolism
TL;DR: In this paper, a large amount of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are continuously released into the atmosphere, and when they react with water, these gases can form sulfurous acid (H2SO3), nitrous acid, and nitric acid.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimentell-ökologische Untersuchungen an Flechten der Negev-Wüste: III. CO2-Gaswechsel und Wasserhaushalt von Krusten- und Blattflechten am natürlichen Standort während der sommerlichen Trockenperiode
TL;DR: CO 2 gas exchange and water relations of crustose and foliose lichens were examined under natural conditions at the end of the dry period in their highland habitat of the Central Negev Desert and maximum rates of photosynthesis are peak values compared with known values from field measurements of lichens from other climatic regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laser ablation-combustion-GC-IRMS - a new method for online analysis of intra-annual variation of δ13C in tree rings
Brigit Schulze,Christian Wirth,Petra Linke,Willi A. Brand,Iris Kuhlmann,Viviana Horna,Ernst Detlef Schulze +6 more
TL;DR: The LA-C-GC-IRMS method will be useful in elucidating short-term climate effects on the delta13C signal in tree rings, indicating a signal related to the forest stand's climate history.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intra-annual variability of anatomical structure and δ13C values within tree rings of spruce and pine in alpine, temperate and boreal Europe
Eugene A. Vaganov,Ernst Detlef Schulze,Marina V. Skomarkova,Alexander Knohl,Willi A. Brand,Christiane Roscher +5 more
TL;DR: An intensive study of tree rings between 1999 and 2003 revealed that tree ring width and δ13C-values of whole wood were significantly correlated with length of the growing season, net radiation and vapor pressure deficit.
