A new subfamily classification of the leguminosae based on a taxonomically comprehensive phylogeny

Nasim Azani, +96 more
- 01 Feb 2017 -
TL;DR: The classification of the legume family proposed here addresses the long-known non-monophyly of the traditionally recognised subfamily Caesalpinioideae, by recognising six robustly supported monophyletic subfamilies and reflects the phylogenetic structure that is consistently resolved.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular systematics of the Amazonian genus Aldina, a phylogenetically enigmatic ectomycorrhizal lineage of papilionoid legumes.

TL;DR: It is suggested that a new tribal phylogenetic classification of the papilionoid legumes should place Aldina along with Andira and Hymenolobium, highlighting another example of the independent evolution of radial floral symmetry within the early-branching Papilionoideae, a large collection of florally heterogeneous lineages dominated by papilionate or bilaterally symmetric flower morphology.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aeschynomene chicocesariana, a Striking New Unifoliolate Legume Species from the Brazilian Chapada Diamantina and Its Phylogenetic Placement in the Dalbergioid Clade

TL;DR: Bayesian phylogenetic analyses of DNA sequence data (nuclear ribosomal ITS/5.8S and the plastid genes matK and trnL intron) have unequivocally placed A. chicocesariana with the rest of Aeschynomene species that are traditionally placed within Aeolian sect.

A Taxonomic Synopsis of Aldina, a Florally Distinctive and Poorly Collected Amazonian Genus of Papilionoid Legumes

TL;DR: A taxonomic synopsis of Aldina (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae), a poorly known Neotropical genus of predominantly Amazonian trees with unusual, non-papilionate flowers is presented in this article .
