KofamKOALA: KEGG Ortholog assignment based on profile HMM and adaptive score threshold.

TL;DR: KofamKOALA is a web server to assign KEGG Orthologs (KOs) to protein sequences by homology search against a database of profile hidden Markov models (KOfam) with pre-computed adaptive score thresholds.

Journal ArticleDOI

Global Trends in Marine Plankton Diversity across Kingdoms of Life.

TL;DR: This work investigates the latitudinal gradients and global predictors of plankton diversity across archaea, bacteria, eukaryotes, and major virus clades using both molecular and imaging data from Tara Oceans to show a decline of diversity for most planktonic groups toward the poles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of CO2 and iron availability on phytoplankton and eubacterial community compositions in the northwest subarctic Pacific

TL;DR: Results indicate that the progression of ocean acidification can alter the biogeochemical processes in the study area and suggest that increases in CO2 level could affect not only the community composition of phytoplankton but also that of eubacteria.
