Magnetic energy flows during the current quench and termination of disruptions with runaway current plateau formation in JET and implications for ITER
A. Loarte,V. Riccardo,Jose Ramon Martin-Solis,JI Paley,A. Huber,Michael Lehnen,Jet-Efda Contributors +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the magnetic energy balance and magnetic energy flows for plasma disruptions in which runaway plateau plasmas are formed and terminated at JET has been analyzed and compared with that of runaway-free disruptions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Localized bulk electron heating with ICRF mode conversion in the JET tokamak
M. J. Mantsinen,M.-L. Mayoral,D. Van Eester,B. Alper,R. Barnsley,P. Beaumont,J. Bucalossi,I. Coffey,Sean Conroy,M.R. de Baar,P. de Vries,K. Erents,A. Figueiredo,A. Gondhalekar,C. Gowers,T. Zerbini,Jet-Efda Contributors +40 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed an ion cyclotron resonance frequencies (ICRF) mode conversion for localized on-axis and off-axis bulk electron heating on the JET tokamak.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ion temperature profile stiffness: non-linear gyrokinetic simulations and comparison with experiment
Jonathan Citrin,Frank Jenko,P. Mantica,Daniel Told,Clarisse Bourdelle,R. Dumont,J. Garcia,J.W. Haverkort,J.W. Haverkort,G. M. D. Hogeweij,Thomas Johnson,M. J. Pueschel,Jet-Efda Contributors +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, an extensive set of nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations are performed based on the experimental discharges, investigating the physical mechanism behind the observations, and the impact on the ion heat flux of various parameters that differ within the data-set are explored.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scaling of density peaking in JET H-modes and implications for ITER
TL;DR: In this paper, an extensive profile database analysis of JET density profiles in H-mode is presented, showing that the density peaking factor n(e0)/ in JET H-modes increases as the effective collisionality v(eff) congruent to 10(-14) RZ(eff)/T-e(2) drops from similar to 1 at mid-radius to below 1 as expected for ITER.
Journal ArticleDOI
ELM induced tungsten melting and its impact on tokamak operation
J. W. Coenen,G. Arnoux,B. Bazylev,G. F. Matthews,S. Jachmich,I. Balboa,M. Clever,R. Dejarnac,I. H. Coffey,Yann Corre,Stéphane Devaux,Lorenzo Frassinetti,Estelle Gauthier,J. Horacek,M. TL;DR: In this paper, dedicated melt exposures were performed using a sequence of 3MA/2.9T H-Mode JET pulses with an input power of P-IN = 23 MW, a stored energy of similar to 6 MJ and regular type I ELMs at...
