ELM pacing and trigger investigations at JET with the new ITER Like Wall
Peter Lang,D. Frigione,A. Géraud,T. Alarcon,P. Bennett,Gábor Cseh,D. Garnier,L. Garzotti,F. Köchl,G. Kocsis,M. Lennholm,R. Neu,R. Mooney,S. Saarelma,B. Sieglin,Jet-Efda Contributors +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a stable and reliable edge-localized mode (ELM) control was achieved when using outboard fuelling size pellets, which was successfully applied for scenario development purposes in the ITER baseline H-mode scenario at 2.5 MA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogen plasmas with ICRF inverted minority and mode conversion heating regimes in the JET tokamak
M.-L. Mayoral,Ph. Lamalle,D. Van Eester,E. A. Lerche,P. Beaumont,E. de la Luna,P. de Vries,C. Gowers,R. Felton,J. Harling,Vasily Kiptily,K. Lawson,M. Laxaback,P. J. Lomas,M. J. Mantsinen,F. Meo,J.-M. Noterdaeme,I. Nunes,G. Piazza,M. Santala,Jet-Efda Contributors +20 more
TL;DR: The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) was used for the initial operation of the ITER as mentioned in this paper, where it was envisaged that activation will be minimized by using hydrogen (H) plasmas where the reference ion...
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of advanced inductive scenarios for ITER
T.C. Luce,C. D. Challis,Shunsuke Ide,E. Joffrin,Yutaka Kamada,P. A. Politzer,J. Schweinzer,A. C. C. Sips,J. Stober,G. Giruzzi,C.E. Kessel,M. Murakami,Yong-Su Na,Jin Myung Park,A. R. Polevoi,R.V. Budny,Jonathan Citrin,J. Garcia,Nobuhiko Hayashi,J. Hobirk,B.F. Hudson,Frederic Imbeaux,Akihiko Isayama,D. C. McDonald,T. Nakano,Naoyuki Oyama,Vassili Parail,T.W. Petrie,C.C. Petty,T. Suzuki,M. R. Wade,Jet-Efda Contributors +31 more
TL;DR: Tests using the available information on rotation and the ratio of the electron and ion temperatures indicate neither of these variables in isolation can explain the variation in normalized confinement observed, and projection to ITER using these models is in general agreement with the favourable projections found with the empirical scalings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modern numerical methods for plasma tomography optimisation
Michal Odstrcil,Michal Odstrcil,Jan Mlynar,T. Odstrcil,B. Alper,Andrea Murari,Jet-Efda Contributors +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, an optimised version of robust and fast tomographic algorithm based on the Tikhonov regularisation constrained to minimum Fisher information is presented. And the resulting speed of reconstruction is compared to other referenced tomographic algorithms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impurity-seeded ELMy H-modes in JET, with high density and reduced heat load
P. Monier-Garbet,P. Andrew,P. Belo,G. Bonheure,Y. Corre,Kristel Crombé,Pierre Dumortier,T. Eich,R. C. Felton,J. Harling,J.T. Hogan,A. Huber,S. Jachmich,E. Joffrin,H. R. Koslowski,Arkadi Kreter,G. P. Voitsekhovitch,M. von Hellermann,Jet-Efda Contributors +31 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that in high triangularity H-mode plasmas with Ip = 2.5 MA, ne/nGr ≈ 1.0, it is possible to radiate separately up to ≈40% of the total injected power on closed flux surfaces in the pedestal region (argon seeding) and up to 50% of injected power in the divertor region (nitrogen seeding).
