This book by a teacher of statistics (as well as a consultant for \"experimenters\") is a comprehensive study of the philosophical background for the statistical design of experiment. It is necessary to have some facility with algebraic notation and manipulation to be able to use the volume intelligently. The problems are presented from the theoretical point of view, without such practical examples as would be helpful for those not acquainted with mathematics. The mathematical justification for the techniques is given. As a somewhat advanced treatment of the design and analysis of experiments, this volume will be interesting and helpful for many who approach statistics theoretically as well as practically. With emphasis on the \"why,\" and with description given broadly, the author relates the subject matter to the general theory of statistics and to the general problem of experimental inference. New generation adsorbents for water treatment.

Large-scale electrolysis of water for hydrogen generation requires better catalysts to lower the kinetic barriers associated with the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Although most OER catalysts are based on crystalline mixed-metal oxides, high activities can also be achieved with amorphous phases. Methods for producing amorphous materials, however, are not typically amenable to mixed-metal compositions. We demonstrate that a low-temperature process, photochemical metal-organic deposition, can produce amorphous (mixed) metal oxide films for OER catalysis. The films contain a homogeneous distribution of metals with compositions that can be accurately controlled. The catalytic properties of amorphous iron oxide prepared with this technique are superior to those of hematite, whereas the catalytic properties of a-Fe100-y-zCoyNizOx are comparable to those of noble metal oxide catalysts currently used in commercial electrolyzers.

Photochemical Route for Accessing Amorphous Metal Oxide Materials for Water Oxidation Catalysis

Control of spontaneously emitted light lies at the heart of quantum optics. It is essential for diverse applications ranging from miniature lasers and light-emitting diodes, to single-photon sources for quantum information, and to solar energy harvesting. To explore such new quantum optics applications, a suitably tailored dielectric environment is required in which the vacuum fluctuations that control spontaneous emission can be manipulated. Photonic crystals provide such an environment: they strongly modify the vacuum fluctuations, causing the decay of emitted light to be accelerated or slowed down, to reveal unusual statistics, or to be completely inhibited in the ideal case of a photonic bandgap. Here we study spontaneous emission from semiconductor quantum dots embedded in inverse opal photonic crystals. We show that the spectral distribution and time-dependent decay of light emitted from excitons confined in the quantum dots are controlled by the host photonic crystal. Modified emission is observed over large frequency bandwidths of 10%, orders of magnitude larger than reported for resonant optical microcavities. Both inhibited and enhanced decay rates are observed depending on the optical emission frequency, and they are controlled by the crystals’ lattice parameter. Our experimental results provide a basis for all-solid-state dynamic control
of optical quantum systems.

Controlling the dynamics of spontaneous emission from quantum dots by photonic crystals

Aim:To study the roles of axial length and anterior chamber depth as risk factors for the development of phacomorphic glaucoma in eyes with mature cataract. Material and Methods: This is a prospective case-control study done in the year 2023 at Department of Ophthalmology, MLB Medical College, Jhansi. Phacomorphic glaucoma was diagnosed by Intraocular Pressure of more than 21 mmHg, intumescent cataract with signs and symptoms of phacomorphic glaucoma, axial length and anterior chamber depth.All patients examined by slit lamp examination . Results: The Mean Intra ocular pressure of phacomorphic glaucoma was 49Â±8 mmHg and of mature cataract was 15Â±6 mmHg. Vision was Light perception in phacomorhic glaucoma and Hand movement observed was mature cataract. The mean axial length was 23.08Â±0.32mmHg among phacomorphic glaucoma, shorter than mature cataract, where the mean axial length was 23.71Â±0.78mm. Conclusion:Patients with shorter axial lengths are at increased risk for phacomorphic glaucoma.

Genetic divergence is a useful tool for choosing the parents to employ in a hybridization program. The current study was conducted at Agricultural College, Aswaraopet, Telangana, to evaluate genetic diversity among 30 rice genotypes during Kharif 2021 using D2 analysis under a semi-dry system. Based on the analysis, thirty genotypes were divided into ten clusters based on D2 values. Cluster II was found largest with twelve genotypes followed by cluster I with ten genotypes and clusters III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X had one genotype each, indicating that there was a sizable amount of variation among the genotypes. Cluster II (284.13) had the highest intra-cluster D2 value, followed by cluster I. (242.63) while the highest inter-cluster distance was found between Cluster VIII and IV (1503.42) followed by cluster VI and IV (1316.83), cluster VI and III (1316.15), cluster IX and IV (1303.55), cluster VIII and X (1261.09), cluster VIII and IX (1132.95), V and III (1113.91), and cluster VII and V (1101.7) suggesting that crosses involving lines from these clusters would produce wider and more desirable recombination. The average inter-cluster distance for Cluster VIII and VI was the lowest (231.01), followed by Cluster IX and X (394.3) and Cluster III and IV (397.72). The genotypes of these clusters have the most gene complexes, as shown by the shortest inter-cluster distance. The findings revealed that root biomass contributed the most to genetic divergence (24.59 percent), ranking first followed by total biomass (21.60%), root length (17.70%) and grain yield/plant (14.02%), culm strength (8.04%), plant height (5.74%), 1000 grain weight (4.36 %). The traits viz., root biomass, total biomass, root length, grain yield/plant, and culm strength contributed 85.95% of the total deviation and need to be exploited to develop varieties suitable for the semi-dry system in rice. The genotypes BPT 5204, WGL 697, RNR 21278, RNR 28361, WGL 915, PR 126, and JGL 28545 were to be better for further hybridization programs to develop varieties for the semi-dry system.

Genetic Diversity Analysis for Yield and Morpho-physiological Traits in Elite Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Genotypes under Semi-dry System Through D2 Statistics

The predisposition of researchers in recommender systems (RS) is increasing due to efficient and personalized recommendations. RS is not able to recommend a product to a group of people. Recently, there has been a lot of interest in group recommendations. Currently, several machine learning and deep learning-based techniques are used to understand the group recommender system (GRS) for goods and find the suitable next items for a group. The major issue of GRS is to satisfy individual member choices in a group. The task of GRS has been accomplished in group formation, individual member rating prediction, and aggregation. This study proposed a revised Slope One predictor in GRS to address this issue. We use the revised Slope One predictor to predict individual member ratings. Preliminary outcomes using two real-world datasets are quite encouraging. The proposed method performs well as compared to the original Slope One.

Cultivation of culinary delicacy and medicinally accredited mushroom Lentinula edodes: A review

Background For the success of any program, its implementation plays a crucial role. Community health workers are of immense importance for malaria elimination from India. Objective This study was aimed to assess the knowledge gaps and the responsible factors for mitanins' knowledge on various aspects of and problems faced by mitanins during their work. Methods Structured interviewer-based questionnaire was used to collect the data, and ordinal regression was applied to analyze the data. Results Only 26% of the mitanins were having a good knowledge attitude and practices (KAP) score about malaria. Malaria endemicity of area [odds ratio (OR) = 0.26, 95% CI = 0.13–0.50), P < 0.001] and education (OR = 0.35, 95% CI = 0.18–0.69, P = 0.002) were the two significant factors affecting the KAP of mitanins. Conclusion: This study shows that prioritizing education while recruiting the mitanins and training them in the low endemic areas with a focus on malaria, which will help achieve the malaria elimination goal.
