Impact of atrial fibrillation on rest and exercise haemodynamics in heart failure with mid‐range and preserved ejection fraction
David M. Kaye,Frank E. Silvestry,Finn Gustafsson,John G.F. Cleland,Dirk J. van Veldhuisen,Piotr Ponikowski,Jan Komtebedde,Shane Nanayakkara,Dan Burkhoff,Sanjiv J. Shah +9 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the influence of AF on the haemodynamic profile of HFpEF/HFmrEF patients at rest and during exercise finds that atrial fibrillation has an impact on survival and quality of life.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exchange of beta-blockers in heart failure patients. Experiences from the poststudy phase of COMET (the Carvedilol or Metoprolol European Trial).
Andrea Di Lenarda,Willem J. Remme,Andrew Charlesworth,John G.F. Cleland,Beatrix Lutiger,Marco Metra,Michel Komajda,Christian Torp-Pedersen,Armin Scherhag,Karl Swedberg,Philip A. Poole-Wilson +10 more
TL;DR: The Carvedilol or Metoprolol European Trial (COMET) reported a significant survival benefit for carvedilol, a β1‐, β2‐ and α1‐blocker, in patients with mild‐to‐severe chronic heart failure (CHF).
Journal ArticleDOI
Telemonitoring for heart failure: the only feasible option for good universal care?
TL;DR: Hospitalization is a good outcome rather than evidence of disease progression and casts doubt on the wisdom of hospitalization as an endpoint in clinical trials, and further work is required to establish the optimal sensors for inclusion in telecare systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Telemonitoring in heart failure: Big Brother watching over you
TL;DR: In this review, the existing home monitoring modalities, relevant trials and focus on future directions for telemonitoring are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vascular tone in heart failure: the neuroendocrine-therapeutic interface.
John G.F. Cleland,C. M. Oakley +1 more
TL;DR: Three groups of agents were added to the treatment of heart failure in the 1980s and the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors have showed not only their ability but also their ability to improve haemodynamic function in the short term.
