Mascola,Andrea Carfi,Mark G. Lewis,Ralph S. Baric,Adrian B. McDermott,Ian N. Moore,Nancy J. Sullivan,Mario Roederer,Robert A. Seder,Barney S. Graham +73 more
TL;DR: Vaccination of nonhuman primates with mRNA-1273 induced robust SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing activity, rapid protection in the upper and lower airways, and no pathologic changes in the lung.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid development of a DNA vaccine for Zika virus
Kimberly A. Dowd,Sung-Youl Ko,Kaitlyn M. Morabito,Eun Sung Yang,Rebecca S. Pelc,Christina R. DeMaso,Leda R. Castilho,Leda R. Castilho,Peter Abbink,Michael R. Boyd,Ramya Nityanandam,David N. Lewis,Rafael De La Barrera,Kenneth H. Eckels,Richard G. Jarman,Martha Nason,Dan H. Barouch,Mario Roederer,Wing-Pui Kong,John R. Mascola,Theodore C. Pierson,Barney S. Graham +31 more
TL;DR: It is found that vaccination with DNA expressing the premembrane and envelope proteins of ZIKV was immunogenic in mice and nonhuman primates, and protection against viremia after ZikV challenge correlated with serum neutralizing activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced Potency of a Broadly Neutralizing HIV-1 Antibody In Vitro Improves Protection against Lentiviral Infection In Vivo
Rebecca S. Rudicell,Young Do Kwon,Sung-Youl Ko,Amarendra Pegu,Mark K. Louder,Ivelin S. Georgiev,Xueling Wu,Jiang Zhu,Jeffrey C. Boyington,Xuejun Chen,Wei Shi,Zhi Yong Yang,Nicole A. TL;DR: It is suggested that increased neutralization potency in vitro correlates with improved protection against infection in vivo, documenting the improved functional efficacy of VRC07-523 and its potential clinical relevance for protecting against HIV-1 infection in humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Etrispecific antibodies (Abs) are engineered that allow a single molecule to interact with three independent HIV-1 envelope determinants: the CD4 binding site, the membrane-proximal external region (MPER), and the V1V2 glycan site, which constitute a platform to engage multiple therapeutic targets through a single protein.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantification of the Impact of the HIV-1-Glycan Shield on Antibody Elicitation.

TL;DR: Targeted deglycosylated trimers are proposed as priming immunogens to increase the frequency of site-targeting antibodies in Env and to measure the impact of the glycan shield on elicitation of antibodies against the CD4 supersite.
