Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation and characterization of SDF-1α-chitosan-dextran sulfate nanoparticles.
TL;DR: Chitosan (CS) and dextran sulfate (DS) are charged polysaccharides (glycans), which form polyelectrolyte complex-based nanoparticles when mixed under appropriate conditions, which are ideal for protein delivery, as the incorporation is carried out in aqueous solution, which reduces the likelihood of inactivation of the proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Shocking Development in a Young Male Athlete With Chest Pain.
Kevin M. Alexander,Mahdi Veillet-Chowdhury,Ciorsti MacIntyre,Joseph Loscalzo,Deepak L. Bhatt +4 more
TL;DR: The differential diagnosis for chest pain in a young, otherwise healthy patient is broad and raises the possibility of premature coronary artery disease, although the family history obtained does not suggest a strong predisposition for atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
NEDD9 Is a Novel and Modifiable Mediator of Platelet-Endothelial Adhesion in the Pulmonary Circulation.
George A. Alba,Andriy O Samokhin,Rui-Sheng Wang,Ying-Yi Zhang,Bradley M. Wertheim,Elena Arons,Edward A. Greenfield,Martina H Lundberg Slingsby,Julia R. Ceglowski,Kathleen J. Haley,Frederick P. Bowman,Yen-Rei A. Yu,John C Haney,George Eng,Richard N. Mitchell,Anthony R. Sheets,Sara O. Vargas,Sachiko Seo,Richard N. Channick,Peter J. Leary,Sudarshan Rajagopal,Joseph Loscalzo,Elisabeth M. Battinelli,Bradley A. Maron +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the molecular mechanisms that regulate platelet-pulmonary endothelial adhesion under conditions of hypoxia were investigated, and they may have important therapeutic implications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sweatt,Rebecca Vanderpool,Martin R. Wilkins,Beth Wilmot,Roham T. Zamanian,Joshua P. Fessel,Neil R. Aggarwal,Joseph Loscalzo,Lei Xiao +30 more
TL;DR: The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the Cardiovascular Medical Research and Education Fund held a workshop on the application of pulmonary vascular disease omics data to the understanding, prevention, and treatment of lung vascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comprehensive network medicine-based drug repositioning via integration of therapeutic efficacy and side effects
Paola Paci,Giulia Fiscon,Federica Conte,Rui-Sheng Wang,Diane E. Handy,Lorenzo Farina,Joseph Loscalzo +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors developed an adjusted similarity measure implemented by the algorithm SAveRUNNER to reposition drugs for cardiovascular diseases while, at the same time, considering the side effects of drug candidates.
