Journal ArticleDOI
Chromatin stretch enhancer states drive cell-specific gene regulation and harbor human disease risk variants
Stephen C. J. Parker,Michael L. Stitzel,D. Leland Taylor,Jose M. Orozco,Michael R. Erdos,Jennifer A. Akiyama,Kelly Lammerts van Bueren,Peter S. Chines,Narisu Narisu,Nisc Comparative Sequencing Program,Brian L. Black,Axel Visel,Axel Visel,Len A. Pennacchio,Len A. Pennacchio,Francis S. Collins,Jesse Becker,Betty Benjamin,Robert W. Mullikin,Morgan Park,Nancy Riebow,Karen Schandler,Brian L. Schmidt,Christina Sison,Mal Stantripop,James Thomas,Pam Thomas,Meg Vemulapalli,Alice Young +47 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed systematic chromatin and transcriptome profiling in human pancreatic islets and found that stretch enhancers are critical chromatin elements for coordinating cell type-specific regulatory programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative analyses of multi-species sequences from targeted genomic regions
James W. Thomas,James W. Thomas,Jeffrey W. Touchman,Robert W. Blakesley,Gerry Bouffard,Stephen M. Beckstrom-Sternberg,Elliott H. Margulies,Mathieu Blanchette,Adam Siepel,Pamela J. TL;DR: The generation and analysis of over 12 megabases of sequence from 12 species, all derived from the genomic region orthologous to a segment of about 1.8 Mb on human chromosome 7 containing ten genes, show conservation reflecting both functional constraints and the neutral mutational events that shaped this genomic region.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microneedles permit transdermal delivery of a skin-impermeant medication to humans.
Daniel P. Wermeling,Stan Lee Banks,David A. Hudson,Harvinder S. Gill,Jyoti Gupta,Mark R. Prausnitz,Audra L. Stinchcomb +6 more
TL;DR: This human proof-of-concept study demonstrates systemic administration of a hydrophilic medication by MN-enhanced TD delivery and set the stage for future human studies of skin-impermeant medications and biopharmaceuticals for clinical applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kinetics of skin resealing after insertion of microneedles in human subjects
TL;DR: Overall, this study showed that pre-treatment of skin with microneedles before applying an occlusive transdermal patch can increase skin permeability for more than one day, but nonetheless allow skin to reseal rapidly after patch removal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Maturation and Diversity of the VRC01-Antibody Lineage over 15 Years of Chronic HIV-1 Infection.
Xueling Wu,Xueling Wu,Zhenhai Zhang,Chaim A. Schramm,M. Gordon Joyce,Young Do Kwon,Tongqing Zhou,Zizhang Sheng,Baoshan Zhang,Sijy O'Dell,Krisha McKee,Ivelin S. Georgiev,Gwo-Yu Chuang,Nancy S. TL;DR: Over the course of the study period, VRC01-lineage clades showed continuous evolution, with rates of ∼2 substitutions per 100 nucleotides per year, comparable to that of HIV-1 evolution.
