Journal ArticleDOI

JointSNVMix: a probabilistic model for accurate detection of somatic mutations in normal/tumour paired next-generation sequencing data

TL;DR: Two novel probabilistic graphical models are introduced for jointly analysing paired tumour–normal digital allelic count data from NGS experiments and amplifies the statistical power to identify and distinguish both germline and somatic events in a unified probabilism framework.
Journal ArticleDOI

In-depth characterization of the microRNA transcriptome in a leukemia progression model

TL;DR: The potential for miRNA-mediated release of oncogenes that facilitates leukemic progression from the preleukemic to leukemia inducing state is revealed and the finding of extensive sequence variations (isomiRs) for almost all miRNA and miRNA species adds additional complexity to the miRNA transcriptome.
Journal ArticleDOI

De novo genome sequence assembly of a filamentous fungus using Sanger, 454 and Illumina sequence data.

TL;DR: A method for assembling draft genome sequences of eukaryotic organisms that integrates sequence information from different sources is reported, and its effectiveness is demonstrated by assembling an approximately 32.5 Mb draft genome sequence for the forest pathogen Grosmannia clavigera, an ascomycete fungus.
