Journal ArticleDOI

Cell type-specific genetic and optogenetic tools reveal hippocampal CA2 circuits

TL;DR: Using highly cell type–specific transgenic mouse lines, optogenetics and patch-clamp recordings, dentate gyrus cells are found to send functional monosynaptic inputs to CA2 pyramidal cells through abundant longitudinal projections, allowing a deeper understanding of the biology of learning and memory.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epigenetic regulation of mouse sex determination by the histone demethylase Jmjd1a.

TL;DR: A pivotal role of histone demethylation in mammalian sex determination is revealed and is observed in mouse male-to-female sex reversal and Jmjd1a directly and positively controls Sry expression by regulating H3K9me2 marks.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of gene expression in male and female mouse blastocysts revealed imprinting of the X-linked gene, Rhox5/Pem, at preimplantation stages.

TL;DR: Using enhanced green fluorescent protein-tagged X chromosomes to identify the sex of the embryos, gene expression patterns between male and female mouse blastocysts were compared by DNA microarray and indicated sex differences in early epigenetic gene regulation.
